Things You'll Need:
- Old fashioned wooden mouse traps
- Cheese or peanut butter for bait
-
Step 1
Once you realize an infestation has occurred, you must "get into the mind of the mouse." Think about where you would scavenge if you were a mouse. Places like the kitchen sink, garbage can and pet food dishes are all good places to start. Literally line the entire area surrounding those places with wooden traps, so there is no way they can get there without getting trapped.
-
Step 2
Only use the old fashioned traps; they are the most effective. Glue traps keep the mouse alive and can be a disgusting mess. Humane traps often work oppositely as you often don't realize you've caught one and usually are not able to set it free in time.
-
Step 3
Keep your house free and clear of any crumbs; that will prevent them from being attracted to your home.
-
Step 4
Once you are positive you have killed them all (you will be able to tell if they are all gone if you no longer are finding small, brown mouse droppings), locate the holes in your walls, floors and moulding that they have been sneaking in through. Hire a professional to permanently cover these spaces. DO NOT cover these spaces until you are sure you have killed all the mice, otherwise they will die in the wall and leave a very unpleasant odor.

on 9/9/2009 use an old shoe string with butter or bacon grease on it. Unless the mouse is really good with a razor knife, he's history.
