Step 1
Place an Indigo plantation on each player's table. Shuffle the rest of the cards and deal 4 to each player. Shuffle the trading tiles face-down.

Select a role on your turn. Each role has a special privilege for you, in addition to an action that everyone will take (aside from Prospector, which simply gives you a card). Choose Builder to play a card from your hand, Craftsman to produce goods, Trader to sell the goods and Counselor to draw a card.

Step 3
Remember that cards are your currency as well as your options. This means that if you want to build an expensive building, you may have to discard some of the other good buildings you've been saving in order to do so.

Step 4
Know that the game ends in the round where any player completes her twelfth building. However, that player does not necessarily win, so try to be sure you are the one with the most victory points before ending the game.
