Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Run errands. Explore what’s around your office and what kind of tasks you can accomplish during your hour. The bank, post office, dry cleaners, drugstore, clothing stores and malls offer a variety of chores you can check off your list and not put off until the night or the weekend.
Step2
Drive. See what’s around and find short cuts to get different places. Drive in circles if you want. Just don’t drive too far that you get lost or far enough away that it’ll take you longer than an hour to get back.
Step3
Pick up lunch. While it isn’t always cost effective to do this every day, try a different place to eat (or a different menu item from the same place) every day for a wide variety of different foods.
Step4
If you bring your lunch and choose not to venture too far from your office, at least change your location. Eat your lunch in your car, in a cafeteria or lobby, or outside on a nice day. Bring a book or magazine to keep you company.
Step5
Socialize with those in your office you actually like. Go out to lunch with them, or set plans to bring lunch on the same day and eat it outside on a picnic bench.
Step6
Surf the Internet, if your company doesn’t block all non-work related websites. This hour is your time, and no one can penalize you for utilizing your break to look up cheap vacation deals on Travelocity.
