When you agree to be in a loved one’s bridal party, you also agree to pose for more photos than you can count. Your face will hurt from smiling, your feet will hurt from standing, and, if it’s a hot day, you run the risk of your hair behaving in ways you’ll be too distanced from hair products to control. Here's how to survive.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Remind yourself that this is a professional photographer using a fancy expensive camera that will most likely take better pictures than any other pictures you are in. Whether you like or hate posing for pictures, keep reminding yourself that you are dressed to the nines and will most likely look like a million bucks thanks to photo editing not generally experienced with your personal picture-taking.

  2. Step 2

Think about things that will actually make you laugh and provide you with the most natural looking smile. Don't let your smile waver, no matter how frustrated you are that you’ve been smiling for what feels like 5 straight hours. Clenched teeth, strained smiles will always be evident, no matter how good the photographer is.

  3. Step 3

Roll with the silly pictures. Often, wedding photographers take a few “silly” shots on purpose to loosen up the bridal party so everything doesn’t seem so formal. So make the silly flirty face at the groom as the bridesmaids try to “lure” the groom away from the bride, and fake-fight the other bridesmaids for the bouquet with lots of gusto; you’ll feel better and will most likely wind up genuinely laughing.

  4. Step 4

Be aware of the cocktails and appetizers at the reception hall. Sometimes, the bridal party is given their own platter of appetizers and supply of beverages on small tables in the separate location near where the photos are being taken. While you’re waiting for your turn in the endless combination of photos being taken, take advantage of these food and drinks that are not being bombarded by the rest of the guests in the crowded reception hall. Just be careful not to spill anything on your clothes; save any spills for after the photos are officially over.
