1
Grieve for the end of your relationship. Cry if you need to and get angry. Don't hold your feelings in. You must realize that divorce is like a death in that you have lost someone close to you, and you need to grieve before you can truly move on.
-
2
Engage in activities that you enjoy, such as going for long walks or taking hot baths. If you enjoy shopping, indulge yourself and buy that piece of clothing or electronics that you desire. Go to a movie with a friend and have a laugh. You need to experience moments of laughter or enjoyment and realize that life will go on after your divorce.

3
Learn relaxation techniques. Deal with the stress of divorce by practicing meditation or yoga. You can get instructional books or videos at your local library or bookstore. Practice these methods to alleviate stress, which can lead to health problems such as ulcers or high blood pressure.
-
4
Start a new activity or hobby. Think about something you have always wanted to learn, such as karate or scuba diving. You will not only be engaging in a new adventure, but meeting new people as well.
-
5
Make peace with the divorce and your ex. This does not mean you have to forget what happened between you. It simply means that you are moving forward and letting go of the past. Realize that the marriage didn't work. Accept your responsibility in the breakup; after all, it takes two to make a marriage. Then vow to release the anger and get on with your life.
-
6
Seek counseling if you are having difficulty coping. You can speak to a trusted clergyman or a mental health practitioner.
