Things You'll Need:
- Plastic bags with closures, gallon size or larger
- Straws
- Space Bags clothing storage bags
- Access to a vacuum
-
Step 1
Lay your clothes out flat before putting any of them in your suitcase.
-
Step 2
If they have arms that extend from the body of the garment, fold the arms into the garment. Then fold the piece of clothing in half, lengthwise. If it's a large piece of clothing, you can even fold in into thirds, lengthwise.
-
Step 3
Take one of the ends of the garment, begin to roll it up. The tighter you can roll the piece of clothing, the better. Continue rolling until the whole piece of clothing is in one large (or small) roll.
-
Step 4
Place the rolled clothing into the suitcase.
-
Step 5
Continue rolling each item of clothing and adding it to your suitcase, until all of your clothes are rolled and packed. You’ll be amazed at how much more you can fit into your suitcase!
-
Step 1
Place a few items of clothing in the bags.
-
Step 2
If you're using plastic bags, zip the bag nearly closed. Leave enough room to insert the straw into the sealed bag.
-
Step 3
Insert the straw so that half of the straw is sticking out of the bag and half of the straw is inside of the bag. Zip the bag until you reach the straw. Then hold this seam tightly in your hand.
-
Step 4
Place your mouth on the tip of the straw and suck in, removing the air from the plastic bag. You may need to draw in several breaths of air to get all of the air out of the plastic bag.
-
Step 5
Quickly pull the straw out and seal the bag when the air is gone.
-
Step 6
If you're using Space Bags, place a few items of clothing in the bags. Then seal the bags, and use a vacuum to suck out the air. This compresses your clothing so it takes up far less room in your suitcase.
