For some, just being outdoors is not enough. They want to experience, feel and live nature. Backpacking is the perfect way to immerse yourself in nature, and Jasper National Park is one of the best places to do it.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Establish what kind of backpacking trip you want to have. Jasper National Park offers trips that are semi-primitive and primitive. Semi-primitive include such things as tended trails and campsites with tent pads and picnic tables. Primitive sites offer only pit toilets, a bear pole and a fire grate.
Step2
Examine any backpacking trips that look interesting to you. Become familiar with their length, terrain and layout.
Step3
Reserve the campsites located on the backpacking trip you want to take. This can be done as early as 3 months before your trip.
Step4
Obtain a Wilderness Pass within 24 hours of the time of your departure. These can be obtained at the park information center, or in Calgary at Park Canada’s office.
Step5
Before you backpack, visit the trailhead kiosk for important information regarding your trip.
