To Install Ubuntu Operating System onto your PC computer one must first check the requirements for installation and if met insert the Ubuntu software CD to begin installation.
Before you begin your installation you must check your computer so that it meets the required memory, hard drive and RAM specifications. The least amount of RAM is 64 bit for AMD or Intel processors. I would recommend at least 126 bit to have good processing speed. Virtual memory should be about 256 Mega Bites and hard drive of at least 20 Giga Bites.
Once, the system requirements are met. You can get a copy of Ubuntu mailed to you if you access the following website: www.ubuntu.com or you can download the software and burn it on to a CD from your computer.
Step2
To begin installation of the Ubuntu software insert the G parted CD that is included in the download or insert the Ubuntu software CD which has the G parted software in it. After you put the Software CD into your CD drive restart your computer.
When the computer loads up the G parted software will load and take you to the main menu. In the main menu choose the partition software and select how much of your hard drive you want to allocate for the Ubuntu software. You can allocate all your hard drive to make Ubuntu the sole operating system on your computer or partition half of your drive to run Ubuntu and the other half for a Windows operating system.
Once you allocate how much of your hard drive you want to use you can begin to install the Ubuntu software. Put the Ubuntu CD into your hard drive and select begin installation. You will be prompted to enter the type of Key board you have, just select standard U.S. if that is what you have or follow the prompt screen to find the appropriate one. Then you will have to enter the time specific to your region select accordingly. Once again after the Time selection box is filled you will be asked to select much of your drive you will dedicate to the Ubuntu operating system. Once you select the amount the installation process will begin. This takes about 45 minutes.
Step3
After the software is installed onto the hard drive restart your computer. Once your computer has reloaded the Ubuntu operating system will load up or if you are running two systems you will select Ubuntu and it will load. The Ubuntu Operating system is supported through free updates on the internet. After installing it make sure you have the latest updates by clicking on the flashing update icon on the top right of your computer screen. Once, the updates have been installed you can select your system preferences by accessing the systems tab and customizing your system to your liking.
Operating your computer on the free Ubuntu software is amazing. The system is stable, secure and has free updates available online.
Tips & Warnings
Make sure your computer meets the requirements before you install the software.
I recommend using only one operating system on your computer because two systems can lead to loading problems.
Make sure you always have the latest software updates.
Even though, Ubuntu is a secure and stable Operating system I suggest you download firewall to protect your system using the Synaptic Package Down loader located in the Systems tab. I recommend Firestarter it is a good one.
