Is your baby hungry and he/she will not eat the baby food you have bought? Don't you worry, if you tasted it, neither would you.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • a small food processor
  • canned or fresh vegetables
  • small containers that seal tight
  • room in your refrigerator

Step1
Before anything you need to have or buy yourself a small food processor for grinding food. The small food processor's run around $5.00 to $10.00 at your local retail store. Or you can look for one at a thrift store in your area.
Step2
Once your baby is around two months old, you will notice when you are eating, that he or she will stare at you the entire time you are eating. This means they are ready to start eating themselves. Do not be fooled by their size, you will be amazed at how fast they learn to eat if given food they enjoy.
Step3
See for yourself first. Buy a couple of jars of baby food from your grocery store, taste it, see if you like it. Now mind you, the fruit that comes in baby food is not bad at all, that I can say is actually decent. However, the vegetables along with anything else is just utterly disgusting and I would not feed it to my animals let alone my child. Again, try for yourself first.
Step4
Now that you understand, go and buy some carrots, green beans, peas, and whatever else vegetables you would like for your little one. Canned, frozen or fresh will all work fine. I prefer the canned vegetable so I do not have to add any salt or seasoning, nor do I need to cook them first before grinding them up. If you are buying fresh or frozen vegetables, be sure to add a little salt and butter to them for taste. Cook as you would for yourself, and allow them to cool down.
Step5
Now that we are ready, it is baby food making time. Place a half a cup of vegetables in the food processor. No more than that at a time. If the mixture becomes to thick while processing, add just a spoonful of water, breast milk or formula to the mixture. Grind up the vegetables until no chunks are visible and the mixture is smooth. Taste, season with salt or butter only and mix one last time.
Step6
Now get out your small containers and start to fill them up. Again, be sure that these containers seal tight, we do not want air to get inside and ruin the baby food. Place a piece of masking tape on the outside with the date and the contents inside of the containers. Place either inside of the refrigerator (last only a few days), or inside of freezer (last a few months). Whichever you would prefer. Repeat with different vegetables and there you have it, your own homemade baby food.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not force a baby to eat if they do not want to.
  • If your baby is hungry, he/she will let you know.
  • Go with your instincts, not with what everyone else says.
  • Do not over stuff the baby, a little at a time goes a long way.
  • Under six months, do not give meat of any kind. A baby's digestive system cannot digest as well with meat as it does with fruits and vegetables.
  • Do not give your baby any seafood before he/she is over a year old.
  • Try and avoid peanuts as well.
  • Never leave your child unattended while he/she is eating.
