Encouraging your teenager to eat healthy can be a difficult feat if you did not start teaching them earlier in life. The best way to teach your teenager anything is to teach by example. If your teenager sees you eating healthy then they are likely to follow your footsteps. Since you the parent is the one that supplies the groceries in your home, make sure there are more healthy options then bad ones.

Things You'll Need:

  • Healthy foods at home
  1. Step 1

The best thing to do is to talk to your teenager about healthier options, and instead of pushing the fact that food is good for you, talk about how good it taste. They will be more likely to try healthy things that they think taste good. Most people think that healthy foods taste gross, but these days there are many healthy foods that are delicious.

  2. Step 2

When you cook meals have your family eat together and watch how they eat. If you cook healthy and thy are hungry then they will eat the healthy foods that you created. If they have been eating the healthy foods that you create since they were small, it is much easier. So make sure that you change the items you cook as soon as you can to get your child and the rest of your family on a better, healthier path.

  3. Step 3

Do not preach anything to your child. This will only push your child away rather them make them listen. The best and simplest way is to teach by example. You are in charge of the cooking and what is bought from the grocery store. So make sure that there are plenty of healthy food for all to enjoy.

  4. Step 4

Of course it is alright to splurge once in awhile and eat something that is not so healthy. So when they do, don't jump all over them. When kids of any age see that they are banned from something, it pushes them towards it more and more. Live your life by setting the right direction for your child. You eat healthy and they will follow.
