Rounders is one of the ancestors of baseball.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bat
  • Four Bases
  • Cork Ball
  • 2 Teams of 9 Players
  • Field
  1. Step 1

Organize two teams of nine players. Each team takes one turn batting while the other team fields, similar to baseball. You will play innings.

  2. Step 2

The bowler stands in the bowler’s mound and throws the ball underhanded to the batter. If the ball passes between the knees and shoulders of the batter, it is “good.” Otherwise, it is called a bad ball.

  3. Step 3

The batter may swing at good and bad balls. If the batter hits a ball, it goes into a play. And, if it is hit within the foul ground, it is a good ball. The batter may then advance to the first base. If the batter sees three bad balls, he may advance to first base.

  4. Step 4

A batter is out if three good balls pass him by, if he fouls out on the third good ball, if the bowler’s view is obstructed, if he makes contact with a fielder, if a fielder tags the base before he arrives at it, or if he attempts to take over a base already occupied by another batter.

  5. Step 5

Runs are scored by batters running around the bases. Each batting team’s inning occurs until the opposite team records three outs.
