How to Use the Background Eraser Tool in Photoshop

Do you have a great photo, but need to change the background? Luckily you can easily remove a background using the background eraser tool in Photoshop.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

• Adobe Photoshop
• Computer
• Digital photo

1. With a photo open in Photoshop, look over at the toolbar at the left of your screen.
2. Choose the background eraser tool (the background eraser might be underneath your eraser).
3. Click on a section of the background you wish to erase. Now click again holding down the alt key. This samples the color you wish to erase.
4. Now drag your cursor along the area you wish to erase. Only the color you sampled will be deleted.

Tips & Warnings

• Always save a duplicate of your photo before you begin editing anything.
