Step 1
Go out and snorkel as much as you can in the area you want to write about.
-
Step 2
Gain knowledge about the marine life and the environment that you choose. Learn about the kinds of fish and invertebrates, as well as a little bit about the environment of the area you want to write about.
-
Step 3
Pick a number of of snorkeling sites. Make a list of all the snorkeling sites you want to include in your book.
-
Step 4
Take notes. Write down the facts of each site including water depths, location and ease for snorkeling. Is the site suited for beginners or just hard core snorkelers? Write about your snorkeling experiences, what you've seen, how you got there. Include if there are certain times of the day or a particular time of the year when snorkeling is not ideal, such as during high or low tide or during hurricane season. If there are strong underwater currents in the area you should include that.
-
Step 5
Now that you have your sites, write about other snorkeling related things like hazards and equipment. Pros and cons of using fins, what to look for when choosing a mask and how to learn to use the snorkel correctly are all things you should include in your snorkeling guide.
-
Step 6
If you have a camera that can take pictures under water you can add quite a bit of color to your guide with some nice photos.
