I'm here to show you just how easy it is to become Registered through California but reap the benefits no matter where you live. California has the most beneficial domestic partnerships to date and they allow you to become domestic partners without being a resident of California.

  • envelope
  • a notary public
  • $33 Money Order

Step1
The first thing you must do is go to the website for the California Secretary of State at http://www.sos.ca.gov/dpregistry/ . Click on "Forms and Fees" in the left hand navigational bar. Then click on the "Declaration of Domestic Partnership Form" and print it.
Step2
After the form is Printed thoroughly look it over. Then fill the form out and make sure that if you or your partner wish to take on another middle or last name that you put it in the appropriate space.
Step3
After the form has been completed take it to your local notary public and get the form notarized. Notary publics can be fund in the phone book or http://www.notarypublic.com.
Step4
After the form has been notarized, include your money order for $33 and the form and put it in an envelope. Address the envelope to Secretary of State, Domestic Partners Registry, P.O. Box 942877, Sacramento, CA 94277-0001.
Step5
Put your envelope in the mail and you are done. In a few days or a week or so, you will receive your certificate just like the one shown in this article and a Domestic Partnership Benefits brochure. You can order customized Gay Marriage Certificated or DP Certificates online through many vendors if you want to make a statement.
