"Word World" is a terrific show for children just learning the alphabet and how the letters form words. Get the most out of the show with these viewing tips.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Know that dog, frog, pig, sheep and duck are the main characters. Their animated forms are created from the letters in their name--D-O-G for dog, P-I-G for pig--as are most of the nouns in the show.

  2. Step 2

Point out that the narrator reads the word, sounds out the word and repeats the word during the show. Pause the show and check if your child is grasping the word building as it's happening.

  3. Step 3

Learn with your child as the characters play on a S-L-I-D-E and sleep in a T-E-N-T. Ask your child what those objects are and what letters are in each words.

  4. Step 4

Play games online for "Word World" (see Resources below) to continue the learning process.
