Fun games, a chance to learn about caring for something and a lesson in responsibility--Webkinz can be a great tool, but it also requires more screen time. Read on for tips to beneficially manage your child's time.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Limit time just like TV. Combine the Webkinz time with TV time for their daily or weekly maximum. These are both media forms on a screen, so limit the time as your would their TV time.

  2. Step 2

Play occasionally to learn how it works and keep up with what your child is doing. Zingo Pop and Wheel of Wow are great places to start.

  3. Step 3

Get a list from parents of their child's Webkinz so that you know who she's playing with online. Since Webkinz can play one another, it's helpful to know which friend your child is connected with to ensure her safety online. While Webkinz does not include a free chat space, it does include an area where scripted chat can be exchanged.

  4. Step 4

Use it as a reward. If your child has done especially well on a test or performed well at practice, give him an extra 15 minutes to play with his pets online.
