Tripping over hula hoops? Falling down among the trikes, bikes, scooters and skateboards? Read on for some tips to organize the toys that live in your backyard.
Create a space for loose toys. Whether it's a corner near the fence, an old laundry basket or a storage bench, designate a spot where balls, bats, jump ropes, hula hoops, sidewalk chalk and the like should be put away.
Step2
Put the pool toys near the pool. If you've got a pool, you've likely got many floating toys underfoot. Use an old laundry basket or a storage bench to keep those toys out of your way.
Step3
Decide where the wheels go. Trikes, bikes, scooters and skateboards should have their own, weather-protected area. As children mature, their equipment gets more expensive, so teach them to respect their wheels and put them away in a safe spot.
Step4
Put gardening equipment with the children's garden. If you've planted a vegetable garden with your kids, put their equipment in an easily accessible spot right near their plants. It will encourage them to weed and care for their plants if the equipment is right where they need it.
