Things You'll Need:
- A sharp razor
- Warm water
- Shaving cream or oil
- Moisturizing lotion
-
Step 1
Preparing your head for shaving is crucial. Shave in the bathtub or shower because the steam and hot water help me to get a closer shave. I'll often rub lotion or oil (like lavender oil or baby oil) onto my head before I shave.
-
Step 2
Lather head with shaving cream or shaving oil. I've like a shaving cream that is somewhat oily. It helps the razor slide across the scalp more easily. Lately I'm loving the Kiss My Face brand of shaving creams...I use peaches and cream.
-
Step 3
Shave slowly and carefully keeping the blade of your razor nice and clean. I actually use both hands...one on the razor and the other to help guide, to feel where the hair is, and to make sure I don't cut myself.
-
Step 4
You may need to shave against the grain to get a close shave. I keep my head moist with the lotion and hot water.
-
Step 5
After shaving, rinse off excess lotion and wash head with soap. Finish by rubbing a nice moisturizing lotion into scalp.
