How to Dust Electronics

Duster Duster

Rate: (0 Ratings)

OK, so you could just take a duster, rub across your TV or computer screen and remove the dust. But while some of it may end up on the duster, much of that dust goes back into the air, only to latch back onto the screen later. You can remove the dust more permanently with some household items.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Fabric softener sheets
  • Soft cloth
  • Liquid fabric softener

Step1
Rub a fabric softener sheet over your computer or TV screen and the rest of the equipment.
Step2
The fabric softener sheet will pick up the dust and also prevent dust from falling back on to the screen's surface.
Step3
If you use liquid fabric softener for your laundry and have no fabric softener sheets, try using a soft cloth or rag dipped into a liquid fabric softener. Obviously, don't get the rag sopping wet, because electronics hate to get wet.
Step4
Take a page out of a newspaper and wipe the screen of your TV or monitor with it and you will see that it leaves no streaks or dust on the screen.
Step5
Use the vacuum cleaner to get the dustiest parts out of the way, but after that you'll need something smaller again to finish dusting your electronics.

Tips & Warnings

  • Although tempting, never ever use glass or window cleaners with ammonia in the ingredients for TV or computer screens. It can destroy the screen's finish.
