How to Connect to Another Person's PC for Support

Have a family member that is always calling you for PC help? Want to help out but find yourself getting frustrated? Now you can connect to their PC easily by creating your own remote support application.

Instructions

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Download UltraVNC Viewer from http://www.uvnc.com

Download SingleClick from http://www.uvnc.com/addons/index.html

Download custom.zip from http://www.uvnc.com/addons/singleclick.html

After you have downloaded all the files you need from www.uvnc.com unzip them into a folder.

Delete the rc4 file only need if you are going to use encryption.
Step2
HelpDesk.txt File Example Take the file called helpdesk.txt open it up and edit the file.

Make it look like my example by replacing the host IP Address to be your IP address on your PC.
Step3
Take the following files and place them into a zip file:

icon1.ico
icon2.ico
helptdesk.txt
logo.bmp
background.bmp
Step4
Go to http://www.uvnc.com/pchelpware/sc/index.html and click on Online Creator.

Put in the user name and password, which is located on the website. Upload your new zip file and then download your new remote support application and email it to your family member.
Step5
Install UltraVNC on your PC. Launch UltraVNC in ListenMode, this will listen for incoming connections from your remote VNC application.
Step6
Have your family member run the program and click connect. This will allow them to connect back to you. If everything went well you should be able to see there screen and help them out.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can change the package looks by editing the following files: icon1.ico, icon2.ico,logo.bmp, and background.bmp
  • make sure you put in your PC's ip address Host machine's IP address.
