Step1
Here are a number of great uses for baking soda.....
You can use it to clean your toothbrushes by mixing 1/4 cup powder and 1/4 cup water and letting your toothbrushes soak overnight to clean them and get rid of germs.
Baking soda is great way to whiten teeth for next to nothing. Get about two teaspoons of baking soda into a little bowl and mix in just enough hydrogen peroxide to make it a nice paste, just like the consistency of toothpaste. Then brush your teeth as normal making sure you leave the paste on your teeth for at least two minutes. If you are not to thrilled about the flavor then you can add a bit of toothpaste in it to add flavor. Make sure you do not swallow the paste, trust me it wouldn't go down so smooth!
Step2
Another way you can use baking soda is mixing 1 tbsp of it into your your hair while you are shampooing it to help wash away build up that gathers in your hair from all the styling aides and water impurities.
What my husband always uses it for is as a deodorant. He sprinkles it onto a washcloth and puts it in his armpits. He has very sensitive skin so his grandmother told him to try this and he has been doing it for about 15 years now and never has any body odor.
Step3
When your child draws all over your wall with crayon, sprinkle some onto a damp rag and wipe the wall, it comes off with little effort. You can also use it to wash your walls anytime or your wallpaper. You can make it pasty if you have heavily soiled areas or dilute it with water and clean all over.
It is a good deodorizer to use in your cat litter box, trash cans, and even your shoes. It can soothe your feet if they are achy and even care for athlete's feet. Just sprinkle it wherever you want to eliminate oder and it works great.
Step4
Keeping a box of baking soda in your refrigerator, pantry or any other area you can think of, will help away any unpleasant smells. It is great to always have an extra box on hand for many reasons in the kitchen and everywhere else in your home. Baking soda can even put out a grease fire.
When you have foods that have burnt the bottom of a pan and so not know what to do, simply sprinkle baking soda in the pot or pan. Then add enough hot water to cover the burnt area and allow it to soak overnight. The next morning it should come off rather easy.
Step5
Relieves itching and minor skin irritations and even when you have an itch in a spot you can't reach like a cast you just sprinkle it onto the area.
Baking soda make a great exfoliate for your skin. Simply wash your face and body as you always do, and then make a paste using 3 parts baking soda and one part water. Next apply the paste to the desired area any where you choose on your body and gently scrub in circular motions. This can be used anywhere you choose except the eye area.
Step6
Instead of wasting a lot of money on carpet deodorizers use baking soda. Sprinkle it over your carpet and let it sit about 15 minutes and vacuum it up. It cleans deep down and deodorizes as well. It can even take out stains in your carpet, get a paper towel and try to blot as much of the liquid or pet urine up and then let the baking soda absorb in the spot for about an hour and then vacuum it right up.
When your dog comes in your house not smelling so great, sprinkle some over his fur and brush them and it helps to neutralize odors on him/her. Its a great way to clean them in between bathes.
Step7
Pour about a cup of baking soda followed by a cup of hot vinegar down your garbage disposal. Allow it to sit for about 5 minutes or so and then run the disposal and rinse with water. It may take a couple of applications to completely eliminate any odors if they are harsh.
Step8
Heres a great foot scrub recipe that incorporates baking soda...
3 tablespoons sugar
3 lemons or limes ( crushed)
1 tablespoon sweet almond oil, lime oil any combination that you like it can be a couple different ones ( or any oil that you like the smell of)
10-15 mint leaves ( cut up)

Crush the lemon or lime up well using leaving of course all the pulp.
Mix all the ingredients together.
Massage the scrub all over your feet and work it in well.
Rinse of with water or a washcloth emerged in water.
Apply lotion to your feet.
Step9
When you have an upset stomach you can make this simple drink. Mix 2 cups water with 1 teaspoon baking soda and drink. It really works great for many different stomach problems.
Since baking soda is nontoxic it is a great item that can be used around children and pets without harm. Of course it is not recommended to eat baking soda in large amounts but it won't harm you like most harsh cleaners.
Step10
It makes a great cleaner for your bathroom as well and in your laundry. Anything you can think of can be cleaned with baking soda. There are so many uses for it and they all work wonders. It is cheap enough to always have on hand and is so useful! It truly is an everyday cleaner and baking item! You can even use it as plant food and cleaning your BBQ. Anything you think of can be cleaned or used with baking soda!
