Volunteering can have ripple effects in so many ways. You can organize larger groups to continue your efforts, connect corporate sponsors with needier organizations and use your time and skills to advance a cause. Any type of volunteer organization will gladly welcome your help, but there are a few key places you can go to search directly for companies that have philanthropic or humanitarian leanings.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Go to Responsible Travel (see Resources below) and learn how you can volunteer to be a chimpanzee caregiver for a weekend in Spain or take care of elephants in Thailand among hundreds of other opportunities.
Step2
Visit an amazing organization called Airline Ambassadors (see Resources below) to find out how you can help children in developing nations or join any of a number of humanitarian causes that they are involved with.
Step3
A good general site for volunteer work is Volunteer Match (see Resources below). Pick and chose whatever type of cause you believe in and apply.

Tips & Warnings

  • Try to study the culture of an area before visiting it to reduce the culture shock you could experience.
  • When going abroad, make sure to visit your doctor to get any necessary vaccinations to ensure the health and safety of everyone.
