How to Make Thank You Note Writing Easy

We all love receiving gifts. The hard part is writing thank you notes. The "Thank You Note Helper" has some organizational tips for writing great thank you notes quickly and easily.

1. Maintain a gift list - Compile a list of all the gifts you have received. The list can be handwritten on maintained on a spreadsheet. Track who sent the gift, a description of the gift, and the date you sent the corresponding thank you note. This will help make sure you write a note for every gift you receive.
2. Establish a note writing area or "toolbox" - Designate a place for writing thank you notes. Keep the area stocked with your gift list, pens, stationery, address book and stamps. Another idea is to keep all of the items you need in an expandable file folder so you can carry it with you and have everything at hand you need to write your notes.
3. Put thought into your pens and stationery - Select pens you enjoy using. It is not fun to write thank you notes with a pen that doesn't write well or isn't comfortable in your hand. When choosing stationery, use something that makes you happy when you look at it, but also make sure it is practical for thank you notes.
4. Create a writing plan - Particularly when you are writing notes for a wedding or a big event, develop a note writing plan or schedule. Your event didn't happen without a checklist and timeline. Be specific and realistic when creating your plan.
5. Don't procrastinate - Whenever possible, write your thank you notes as soon as possible when you open your gifts. This is beneficial because your excitement about the gift will show in the note and you won't be overwhelmed with a pile full of gifts that need thank you notes.
