How to Cook the Perfect Frozen Corndog

Cooking a corndog is an art form. Just because you buy them frozen at the grocery store doesn’t mean that they can’t taste great. Read on for a few simple tips to make those frozen wonders the best they can be.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Open it up. Most frozen corndogs are frozen pretty stiff at the store. I recommend taking out as many dogs as you are going to eat that day and putting them in the fridge. This way they will thaw a little bit. Don't leave them in the fridge for more than an hour, however.
Step2
Preheat your toaster oven on “toast” and leave it to warm up to its full heat.
Step3
Wrap the corndog in paper towel and throw it in the microwave for about a minute and a half. This does the job of heating and cooking the dog. The only problem is that this leaves it soggy and sapped of flavor.
Step4
Carefully place that dog in the toaster oven. Keep a close eye on it. Make sure to turn it a few times to keep the toasting even. It should only take a few minutes. If you see the stick turning black, take it out immediately. Be careful removing it, though; the sticks will be very hot.
Step5
Serve the dog up on a plate with a splash of ketchup and mustard or BBQ sauce if that is your taste. Enjoy.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be careful when dealing with the toaster oven and the hot corndogs.

on 2/25/2008 I love corndogs too ... My daughter has perfected making them in the microwave ... I just have the breading fall off and there goes my corndog!

on 2/23/2008 I love corndogs, but I agree with you about the soggy breading, it just isn't right. I will have to try them your way, it sounds like it would make a big difference. I like the can cheddar cheese for my corn dogs. Thanks.
