Extract All Resources From a Flash SWF Using Fortop SWF Resources Extractor

The Fortop SWF Resources Extractor lets you decompile a Shockwave Flash (SWF). Although it doesn't decompile the SWF file fully down to ActionScripts and symbols, it does allow you to extract raster images from the SWF file. Read on to learn more.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Working installation of Fortop SWF Resource Extractor (available from Download.com)
  1. Step 1

    With the Fortop SWF Resources Extractor open, click the "Open" button to the top left of the screen.

  2. Step 2

    Navigate to the location of the SWF that you wish to decompile, select the filename, and click "Open." The left-hand area will display the files currently open; the right-hand explorer area will display each individual object that can be extracted from the SWF.

  3. Step 3

    Select all of the objects by following one of the four options listed here:

    1. Click and drag over all available objects.
    2. Hold down the shift key while clicking on each object.
    3. Right-click in the explorer area; then select "Select All." (You can also choose "Select All Images" or "Select All Sounds").
    4. Do what Step 5 details.

  4. Step 4

    Click the "Extract" button at the top of the screen.

  5. Step 5

    Leave "Selected Resources" checked--unless you skipped Steps 3 and 4. Then, click "All Resources."

  6. Step 6

    Click the dropdown menu to navigate to the location where you want to save the extracted files.

  7. Step 7

    Click "Extract."
