Many people have written books and articles about how to cope with frustration and the fear of failure. Staying positive and keeping your chin up come to mind. But what if the situation looks extremely bleak and the downward spiral keeps going? There are 3 easy steps to overcome this, the challenging part is taking a chance, let's begin.

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You'll Need:

  • A willingness to surrender yourself to change.
  1. Step 1

Know when to give up. Now I don't mean give up entirely. What I'm saying is that the approach you are currently taking to the situation is probably not working. I'm sure you know the definition of insanity: doing the same process over and over expecting a different result. So you're probably insane! My advice, change strategies, take a step back to see what is working and what is not. It is much simpler than you think.

  2. Step 2

Crying isn't all that bad. While I don't recommend doing this in public (you might not get much sympathy) however, taking some alone time to physically release some of that fear and frustration can be very healing.

  3. Step 3

Meditate. Don't meditate on what is bothering you, but the traditional form of meditation. The clearing of your thoughts, your slow breathing and the quiet atmosphere around you. After 10 minutes or longer you'll find that what is really bothering you is 1)Not situation that brought you to this point in the first place or 2)Blown way out of proportion.

Tips & Warnings
  • The best quote I have ever heard is "You are your own best teacher." Teach yourself to follow your instincts to lead you out of this funk and change yourself for the better.
  • If you do find that there is a root to these feelings that are hard to face on your own there may be a chance that talking it out will be in your best interest. I recommend Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I say this because it is the best for people like you that are healthy enough to identify that there is a problem and these therapists will help you figure out ways to solve it.
