How to Create a Stamped Background for Scrapbooking

  1. Step 1

First, lay out the pictures on the scrapbook page. Doing this will give you an idea on where you will need to stamp your background. You can also find out if part of your stamp will be covered or not depending on how you plan to do your page.

  2. Step 2

Figure out where you will place the stamps. They can go around pictures, be hidden a bit by the pictures or create a decorative edge on the page. The possibilities on what you could do are endless. There are multitudes of stamps and ink colors with which you can create a background that will match perfectly with your pictures.

  3. Step 3

Start to stamp the background, you can remove all the pictures or just move them as you stamp on that area. If you are using several different stamps or different colored ink pads, place them around on the page so that they are mixed well across the page.

  4. Step 4

Continue stamping until you have the page covered to create your background. Depending on the size of your stamp it may only take a few times and smaller stamps will take more to fill the page.

  5. Step 5

Let the stamped images dry for a few minutes before you go to add the pictures or other items. If you start before the ink is dry, you may create smudges in the ink and ruin your background. You may also need to let some of the stamped images dry before you do more, particularly if you are going to apply the next stamp close to or on top of the other stamped images.

  6. Step 6

After the ink has dried, you can continue with your page. Add your pictures and scrap to your hearts content.

on 3/25/2008 I really like this idea. It's so much more interesting to add details like that then to just leave the background paper blank.
