Skipping stones is a wonderful way to enjoy a sunny day and a beautiful lake or pond. With a little patience and time, you can teach your child, or yourself, how to skip stones. You'll quickly find yourself lost in the search for the perfect rock and in competition for the longest skip. Read on to learn more.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Any body of water will do as longer as there are no swimmers. The smoother and calmer the water the better.

  2. Step 2

Find a stone as thin as possible. The stone should be bigger than a quarter and smaller than your palm.

  3. Step 3

Hold the stone so that it is parallel to the water surface.

  4. Step 4

Fling the rock low and as far out as you can, putting a little spin on it by flicking your wrist.

  5. Step 5

You or your kids will probably not get it the first time but don't give up.

  6. Step 6

This can hard for young kids to do; but they can have just as much fun collecting your perfect rock and giving each throw their best effort as they stand by your side.
