Cut the 2x4s to length. This size will vary depending on the size of your bed.
Cut 2 side rails slightly longer than your box springs.
Cut 2 more rails (for the head and the foot) slightly less wide than your boxsprings.
Cut 5 additional rails 3 inches longer than your head and foot rails
Cut 8 feet (you'll use 2 @ each corner) to your liking (6 - 12 inches would be normal). -
2
Sand all surfaces.
-
-
3
Build the feet. Combine 4 sets of 2 of your shortest cuts. Make sure they are even on all sides (especially the top and bottom).
-
4
Build the base. Attach your 2 longest and 2 shortest making a rectangular box that is slightly larger than your box springs.
-
5
Attach the base to the legs.
-
6
Add the slats. Set the remaining pieces on top of the base. They should match evenly up with both of the long rails. Attach.

7
Fill in all holes with wood filler (if you want to).
-
8
Paint or stain to your liking. Finish with a couple of coats of lacquer for durability.
