Children are a blessing. At least, they are to parents. But if 2 of your friends decide to take life into their own hands and create another, life you’ll undoubtedly be bombarded by a barrage of poorly lit pictures taken at some mall, by non sequiturs about the baby’s non-accomplishments and, of course, by the cursed din of children’s music. This provides a perfect excuse to make a mixed CD that’s appropriate for toddlers yet enjoyable for parents--and, more importantly, for their friends. Read on for a few suggestions for what to include.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • CD Burner
  • Music
  • Blank CD's
  1. Step 1

Ska music. Despite it going out of fashion in the 90s, some of the old English ska bands like Madness and The Specials will always be cool. The lyrics combine a nice mixture of quirk and quip and the oblivious little ones will dig the walking bass lines and cheery horns sections.

  2. Step 2

The Kinks. Perhaps one of the more underrated bands in rock history, the song writing skills of Ray Davies have never been properly appreciated. He mixes playful melodies and soothing rhythms beneath poignant lyrics telling tales of sadness, madness days gone by.

  3. Step 3

The Beatles. This is a no-brainer. Everyone likes The Beatles--except perhaps people harboring intentional irreverence.

  4. Step 4

The band Air. This French group of electro-jazz artists create seductive sounds for anyone with functioning ears.
