Step 1
Visit an online library catalog or online bookstore. Do a keyword search to confirm the book title and author.
-
Step 2
Use an Internet search engine to find the book title on the web. Read the publisher's description and book reviews to make certain this is the book you think it is.
-
Step 3
Find the book in the vendor's catalog. Check the date published and edition. If you are OK with an earlier version of the book, these may not be important; but if you want the most recent, shop selectively.
-
Step 4
Look for details in the book description. Is it the hardcover edition? Did someone write in it? Are the page edges gilded?
-
Step 5
Pay close attention to shipping costs. You may end up paying more for a used book than you would for a new one if you have to pay an arm and a leg in shipping.
