Porn has long been a debatable issue in society as well as many households throughout the world. The controversy lies in whether or not pornography diminishes the traditional art of lovemaking by dehumanizing it or if it's just another form of self-expression. After-all there are more sensual versions of adult films in which the mood is set and foreplay is the central focus. Then we have your more hard core films where boy meets girl, boy screws girl and it's over and done before you know it. (Usually you are too) When it's all said and done there are plenty of men and women who want to experience the lifestyle and feel that they have what it takes to be a porn star. The reality is in fact that it takes more than just good looks to make it in the adult industry. First you have to analyze what you will and wont do, then you have to accept the fact that sometimes up to 20 people can be on set while filming and lastly unless you are starting with a high-end company like say, Playboy, the pay will not be as glamorous in the beginning. Nonetheless if you can handle the physical and mental aspects of the job then read on and Good Luck.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • AIMS test
  • Self-confidence
  • Open mind
  • Flexible schedule

Step1
Get AIMS tested. The AIMS test or Adult Industry Medical STD test is a requirement for anyone who wants to do legit porn. It can range from $200 to $500 but it guarantees the directors and other talent of your negative status within a wide range of STD's. You are tested for everything from AIDS to Trichomonia. It is also just good to have for piece of mind. Even then be very leery about who you shoot with, especially if it's an un-covered shoot. (Un-covered means no protection)Keep these results wit you always when auditioning and keep them updated every few months as well.
Step2
I start with self-confidence because it is an essential part of the business. If you don't think you're sexy no one else will either and you have to be able to bring that forth on camera. It is smart to begin practicing your "sexy" looks in the mirror or with a friend. Learn how to look pleased even when you're not because filming a porn movie is very technical and not always as fun as the end product may seem.
Step3
Prepare yourself for the type of porn that you want to do. Some people only want to do one-on-one scenes while more open-minded individuals are fine with gang-bangs and orgies. You may be gay or bi-sexual and that's always a plus in the industry because you will get more work and the pay is generally higher for the wilder you are willing to get. Also think about whether you want to do just magazines and web sites or if you want to go into full-fledged movies. There are many opportunities to do adult work outside of adult films.
Step4
Looks wise , it is hard to say what you should look like but it really all depends on the genre you would like to belong to or the companies you end up doing adult work for. For example: Playboy.com bunnies have a look. Their usually petite, very athletic or toned, slim to almost average build, larger breast and definitely a flat tummy. Now with say a site like bustybabydolls.com , the women are expected to be at least 200 lbs. and thick to super plus sized. The reason being that this site caters to men who have BBW or full-figured woman fantasies. There are a wide-range of fetishes and fantasies to cover so you will ultimately have to decide what you are most comfortable with. I will say that a pretty face is a must in the industry. True, there are a few not-so-nice-looking ones but that is very rare. It's usually because they do it all or cater to extreme fetishes. Always keep a fresh set of pictures that can be submitted for review via e-mail. Make sure you pose in clothing and naked because some places want to see you before they even book you for a casting.
Step5
Take your time doing your research some adult companies are better to work with than others. Sometimes you will have to sign contracts and other paperwork. Make sure you read the fine print and if you don't understand it then get someone who does to explain it to you in plain English before you sign anything. Be very flexible with your schedule because you may have to travel across state lines and sometimes out of the country to shoot on location. Keep an updated picture ID and passport as well.
Step6
Lastly Good Luck! There are lots of people in the industry already and millions waiting for their chance. Be unique and present your self well if you want to stand apart. Network within the industry and remember that Porn Valley is in California and you're more than likely to get discovered there. New York City , Las Vegas and Atlanta have huge adult followings as well. Save yourself the headache and money, by getting in touch with directors yourself instead of using an agent.

Tips & Warnings

  • Pick a stage name that reflects who you are or what you do best.
  • Keep money on the side just for traveling and testing because until you actually get paid most costs are out of pocket expenses.
  • Remember that Porn Star is a label that lives with you forever so be prepared for the negative feedback from some.

Always read the contract before you sign it, no matter how "good looking" or "intelligent" anyone may "seem", get it?

Always keep the viewing rights, if not copyrights, to any materials in which you have participated. Never do anything which can be used without your consent.

Also, never do anything which you have previously not agreed to do in a written consent form prior to that particular action, i.e., "I will give consent to being anally sodomized during the production", and which should then be individually initialed.

Always Know Your Dealer.

If you have some one who looks shaky, and only says "trust me" and even perhaps, "look at these four [[ substitutes up to twenty]] videos which I've produced, now don't you want to be in one???", then please BEWARE and DO NOT BUY IN!!! Mostly, this is meant for the 19- girl

Mostly, this is meant for the 19- girls crowd, but some bi males also get taken.

EVERYBODY WANTS TO BE A PORN STAR!!!

Well, seriously, what's wrong with that?

If you are hot and uncommitted and want to show yourself off, and particularly online, or more judiciously in print, AND DO NOT MIND SHOWING YOURSELF OFF TO EVERYONE ON THE ENTIRE PLANET, and want to maybe make some money at it (yes, for some, but not for all), and like having totally promiscuous sex (albeit with poorly AIMS-tested compatriots), then.......

YOU TOO CAN BE A PORN STAR!!

Good Luck.
