Are you tired of paying too much for cat food and cat litter? You can't stop buying either because they're necessities. That's why the choices available on the market today are literally endless. You will find so many brands to choose from, it can easily become very confusing. To find the best price is another challenge; but there is hope. You can pay less for cat food and cat litter by following the steps below.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • List of preferred cat food (all kinds you use, such as dry, pouch and can)
  • List of preferred cat litter

Step1
You should first decide on a brand of cat food and/or cat litter that you would like to research. You will have to do this for all types of items you need. It may be a good idea to have a few of each listed under every category to give you a few more options in your search.
Step2
You will need to do some price comparisons at your local stores. This can be done personally or over the phone. You should be sure to list the various sizes available and make note of any sales or other special prices.
Step3
After you have the local area prices, you will need to do the same for all of the online stores. There are a few sites listed under Resources that you can start with, or you can find several other options by doing a search.
Step4
You will have to consider the price of shipping for all online purchases. This is part of the cost, and it could be high, due to the weight of these items. This has to be figured into the overall fee to get the true cost. You will find several of the companies that offer these products online also have free shipping or discounted shipping, if you purchase a certain amount.
Step5
After you have listed all of the items you are interested with the total cost, compare them to find the best deal. It is a good idea to go through this process at least once or twice a year, since several of the prices will vary throughout the year.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep in mind any special litter that may be required if you have an automatic litter box. Most of these require a specific brand to function properly.
  • If you are changing brands of dry cat food, it always best to do this gradually. You should mix the old and new products together to allow your cat to adjust to the differences slowly.
