      Create an Adobe PDF from a manuscript written in Microsoft Word by opening the document in Word and choosing the Microsoft Office button in the upper left hand corner. Click the button and move the arrow down to "save as." Click "PDF," and a dialog box will open and prompt you to name the file. Give the file a name and in the drop down menu with the label "save as type," choose "PDF." Your document will be saved as an Adobe PDF.

      Create an Adobe PDF from other Microsoft programs using the exact same steps. Microsoft Access, Excel and PowerPoint all have "save to PDF" functions similar to Word. Click the "Office" button, arrow down to "save as" and save as type PDF

      Create an Adobe PDF from a handwritten manuscript by first scanning the handwritten pages. Place the page to be scanned on your scanner. Open Adobe Acrobat and click on "Choose File." Select "Choose file ->Create PDF->From scanner." You can also click "Choose Document -> Scan to PDF." Scan the page. Note: Each page of the manuscript must be scanned separately.

  • Converting a manuscript to PDF from programs other than Microsoft Word is possible, but the process for each program is unique.
