Short denim skirts are very popular, but they often are way to short for a tween to wear. You can, however, lengthen your tween's denim skirt, making it more acceptable. Here's how to do it.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find a piece of trim you can use to add on to the bottom of the skirt. It can be from an old piece of clothing, or a wide piece of lace trim or other fabric. You can cut the ruffles off another skirt, or off of a jacket or blouse.

  2. Step 2

Cut the trim to the correct length so that it fits the circumference of the skirt. If you want to add more ruffles to the trim, you will have to set the trim so that it is ruffled.

  3. Step 3

Using washable fabric glue or iron-on adhesives, attach the trim to the skirt on the inside. Make sure you purchase washable, bondable glue that says it glues fabric to fabric. Follow the instructions on the bottle.

  4. Step 4

Add be-dazzle gems for further reinforcement and to decorate the skirt. Iron the skirt (a day or so later) to make sure the glue is set and wait a couple of days before ironing the garment.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can choose to attach your trim using a sewing machine.
  • You can make a full outfit with this project by purchasing 2 jackets on clearance and using the trim on one to add to the skirt.
  • Use a piece of cardboard to keep the skirt from sticking to itself.
