How to Add Wire Decoration to a Card

  1. Step 1

First, plan on what you want to do with your wire. You can create flowers, shapes, words or just lines across your card to create dimension. If your just doing lines across your card, you can go to Step 4.

  2. Step 2

If you want to create words or shapes, draw what you want the wire to look like on the scrap paper with the pencil. Try not to have any sharp corners because it’s a bit difficult to do with wire. Try to keep it soft and flowing. It will make it easier to follow for bending the wire.

  3. Step 3

Once you have your sketch done start bending the wire. Start any place you would like or that would be the easiest to do. As you are bending the wire, place it on top of the sketch to see if you are close. You don’t have to be exact; it’s your preference on how you won’t the wire to look.

  4. Step 4

Then, cut your wire when done bending or to the desired length for your lines. You can leave a bit extra on the ends to wrap around a piece of paper to easily secure on the back side.

  5. Step 5

To apply the wire to the card, you can do a few things. If you left the ends longer, wrap them around to the backside of a piece of paper and tag to secure them well. Also, you can apply a small amount of glue to the paper to secure the wire. Or, you can use a bit of ribbon or a small piece of paper to go over the wire; then, tape that to the card. The choice is up to you.

  6. Step 6

Now that your wire is secured to your card, you can finish the rest of your card, if need be.
