Kids and even adults love to bat a balloon around. Here are a few kid-created games to keep the family entertained through those long, cold winter afternoons and evenings.
Object to use as a dividing line (string or briefcase)
Friend or partner
Step1
For VolleyBalloon, place an object down midway between the 2 players as a dividing line. For best results, VolleyBalloon should be played in a narrow enclosed space such as a hallway.
Step2
Let one player serve the balloon underhand and one-handed, volleyball style.
Step3
Have the other player return the balloon. The balloon may touch the ceiling and walls, but not the ground on your side of the dividing line. If the balloon hits the ground on your own side (no matter who has batted it), the other player gains a point.
Step4
The first player to score ten points first wins.
Tips & Warnings
For a "team-building" variation of this game, especially for sibling rivals, you don't need a dividing line or even a hallway. Players must work together to keep hitting the ball in the air. Each one takes turns batting the balloon, doing anything to make sure it does not hit the ground at all. If it touches the ground more than 5 times, the game ends.
