      1. First find out what the challenge is, and what caused it?

      Is the hair
      a. Dry- lacking moisture
      b. Damaged- due to excessive chemical service
      c. Or are there health conditions that you are not aware of yet

The first two you and your hairstylist can treat topically. The third, see your doctor, asap, with your hair history.

      2. Get the best product for your situation
      a. If the hair is dry- focus on Moisture products

      3. Next Treat it

      a. While treating your hair it may take a couple days to notice any changes in condition. Once you notice that the hair is healthier, move into maintenance care.

      4. Maintenance care is your daily use of products when the hair is in a normal healthy place
      a. Shampoo, the fewer times a week you do this the healthier your hair will be.
      i. Obviously I would not recommend that you struggle with unmanageable hair. Do what you can to learn how to work through these times, in the name of condition. YOU HAVE TO LOOK YOUR BEST, YES! But without healthy shiny hair, it is going to be a challenge.

      b. Condition
      i. Every time you shampoo. Like your skin, your hair is a porous material that needs moisture to maintain its health and vitality.
ii. Daily- use a moisture based de-tangler- something that rinses out
iii. Weekly- you may need to do a deep conditioning treatment. If not weekly then at Least monthly. You may plan this at the same time you are in the salon for a haircut. There are many treatments that are available exclusively in salons that can be very beneficial to your hair, consider it.
      c. Styling
      i. If you are use to using heated tools, cut back & lower the heat setting. Continual exposure to high heat can cause damage. If you must use the heat, make sure you are using the correct products to protect your hair.

      1. The right shampoo for your condition
      2. The right conditioners and treatments for your condition
      3. Thermal protectants
      4. and styling products that help create your look

"Really Damaged"- Conditioning would be the way to go now. You may want to seek professional conditioners- like the ones found in the kerastase line.
