Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Things You’ll Need:
Step1
Discuss the party with your tween. Find out in advance what kind of activities she would like for her slumber party. Also discuss things that you don't want to happen. For example, you may want them to participate in truth or dare games that are known to cause relationship and self-esteem problems.
Step2
Once the rules are established, start planning things that they can do to keep them busy. You will want a fully stocked beauty area with nail polishes, files, finger and foot soaks, and facial masks. You will want to find age appropriate crafts that will challenge them while allowing them to continue laughing and joking. You should make sure you have plenty of card and board games on hand.
Step3
Start the slumber party with dinner preparation. By cooking together, tween girls can bond with new friends and spend some time cooperating with each other while making cookies from scratch, or even cooking their own dinner of lasagna or individual pizzas.
Step4
Give the tweens a reasonable amount of privacy after dinner to play games and do beauty treatments and such, but stay in constant earshot of the activities. You will want to be sure no one is being picked on or alienated. Knowing that you are nearby should keep any prospective trouble makers in line.
Step5
End the evening with a movie marathon. Make sure you have more movies than they can actually watch in one night. This way if they never actually fall asleep, they should be still and allow you to get a little rest.
