Too many people assume that a biography and a one-sheet are the same thing. They are NOT. A one-sheet is about a particular product, not to mention that the goal of the one-sheet is to attract a person to buy the product to sell. For the sake of simplicity, let's say our product here is a fiction novel. Here's how to write a one-sheet.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A product
  • Writing ability
  1. Step 1

First, begin talking about the novel itself. Give a brief outline about the story and what takes place. This synopsis should make the reader want to read the book, so basically it is a typical sales-pitch for a book.

  2. Step 2

Next, talk about the business end. Who is your targeted audience? Why would this book sell well in a particular store? Why should this outlet want to carry your book?

  3. Step 3

Show them the numbers! How many copies have you sold and in what markets? If your numbers are low, do not panic. Instead, focus more on the promotional efforts you have done for the book. Have you appeared on any radio shows? Have you done any signings? Do you have a web page? Convince people of your ability to make this book successful.

  4. Step 4

Last, enter author information. This author information should be a brief summary of the author's biography. Underneath the biography put ALL necessary contact information. Email, telephone, and address should all be included.
