Step 1
If you are journaling for fun and the old fashion way, have paper and pen available. You may want to pick up a specially bound notebook which will only be used for your journal.

Step 2
Throughout the day take notes on events or surroundings which struck your notice. A key word listed on a small piece of paper may be all you will need later on to record the event in your journal.

Step 3
Try to set a time each day to open up your journal, date, and record the events of your day. The habit of journaling develops over time. Don't give up and do enjoy going back and reading about days gone by.
