1. It is important to plan ahead for a tween girl's birthday party for several reasons. First, girls this age like to be in control. Give them plenty of time to decide what they want and how they would like the party to go. A months warning should be good.

2. Help your tween to choose a theme that is age appropriate that her friends will find exciting, but not too childish.

3. The tween years are very sensitive years. Make sure your daughter is including all of her friends and if possible all of her classmates. This way, no child will feel left out. It might be easy to limit her to 5 or 10 friends, but doing so may make her choose between friends and maybe even make enemies.

4. Keep them busy with a fun activity. Plan activities that will keep their hands and their minds busy. This will prevent spats, teasing, and other disagreements. It will also make the time go faster for you.

5. Give them time to unwind. After the games are played, the food is eaten and the gifts are opened, give them a little time to relax and unwind. Play some music, or put on a short movie for them to watch until it is time for them to go home.
