There are a lot of decorations and party favors that you can make yourself for your wedding to save you money. Here are a few that I have made for family and friends weddings.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Tulle netting
  • Silk flowers
  • Greenery
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Glue gun
  • Curling Ribbon
  • Candy
  • Cloth Ribbon
  • Lace
  1. Step 1
Balloons being used for table centerpieces.
Balloons being used for table centerpieces.

Use balloons to decorate walkways and receptions and entrances to the wedding hall or church.
Simply rent a large helium tank and fill balloons in your wedding colors. Try to make them all the same size for a more professional look. Make groups with odd number of balloons in the group and tie with long curling ribbon in either matching or coordinating colors to a weight and place in rows on either side of the entrance. Or use them as table centerpieces. Use one balloon in each grouping as a focal point like ones printing with wedding bells or imprint on them.

  2. Step 2
    Candle Centerpiece.
    Candle Centerpiece.

Make inexpensive candle centerpieces by using a candle, a wide mouth glass or vase, some greenery.
Put a candle in your choice of color in a glass or vase, add some decorator rocks, shells or marbles around the base of the candle and place on the table, you can add a few sprigs of greenery as long as you are careful to keep it far from the candle flame and simply set on the table and use either real or silk ivy garland to dress up the table around the candle.
Shop at your local Dollar Store for the items for this quick centerpiece tip.

  3. Step 3
    Rental Tent Ceiling

Decorate an outside party tent ceiling by simply using helium balloons tied with curling ribbon and let them go inside the tent to gather on the ceiling.
Also string some string and put up some plastic twirly ribbons to blow in the breeze. Use in large quantity to make an impact.

  4. Step 4
    Tulle Net Bag Party Favors

For party favors on the reception tables simply fill inexpensive tulle net bags (Check Oriental Trading or your local Dollar Store for good pricing) and fill with your choice of candy and simply pull the strings to tie and place on the tables or in a large basket by the entrance.

  5. Step 5
    Crepe Paper Streamer Canopy Cover

Use crepe paper streamers to make a bold statement at wedding reception or a birthday party. Simply use them in volume in block colors to cover a metal canopy cover. Also by folding alternating colors of crepe one over the other you can create color chains to decorate with. Simply tape each end to keep them from unraveling and use whenever you have an event that needs a special touch.

  6. Step 6
    Balloon Garland

Simply blow up some balloons with regular air and tape to tissue or paper garland for a more festive touch to ordinary garland.
Just remember to keep your balloons the same size and evenly spaced for a more professional touch. You can use either the same color as the garland or use a coordinating color.

  7. Step 7
    Crepe Paper Swag

Use simply crepe paper streamers with two different colors twisted together for a swag garland and let some dangle from the attached points. Add a few balloons and you have an inexpensive way to decorate a large hall without overspending.
