For many youngsters, 4-H provides a great opportunity to gain leadership skills and self-confidence while giving back to their community. If you are a member of a 4-H club in your area, chances are you want your club to be the top one in your county or district. 1. First it is important that you get all members of your 4-H club on the same page and motivated to become 4-H club of the year. This is not something that you can do alone, thus you need everyone on board from the beginning.
2. In order to become 4-H club of the year it is important that you set goals to get there. This requires you and the other members of your club to come up with both short and long-term goals that can make you into the 4-H club of the year.
3. Once you have a plan of what you are going to accomplish throughout the year as a club it is important to divide up the responsibilities. Each part of the plan takes different efforts and skills, thus you should use the strengths of your members to take on projects best suited for them.
4. Of course as with any goal you should meet as a club and periodically review them. This allows you to see what you’ve accomplished as well as plan for what is up and coming. In addition, you can easily alter the goals if the need arises.

• Photos are great ways to document your progress, and they often tell more of a story than what is written by hand on your application to become 4-H club of the year.
