From Quick Guide: Vegetarian Recipes
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bag of brown, yellow or white rice
  • One stick of butter or margarine
  • Garlic salt
  • Onions
  • Green, red and yellow peppers
  • Broccoli
  • Carrots
  1. Step 1

Clean the cooking area. All of the pots and pans that you are using to make this dish should be clean and ready. For this dish, clean a medium-sized saucepan using a dishcloth, water and dishwashing liquid. Rinse the saucepan with water. Afterwards, fill the saucepan with water. Turn on the burner and place the saucepan on the burner. Wait two minutes until the heat warms up the saucepan.

  2. Step 2

Start cooking. Add butter or margarine to the water as it boils. Then, add the rice. Afterwards, add milk and garlic salt to the boiling water . Next, add the onions, green, red and yellow peppers. After that, add broccoli, carrots, corn and peas. Lower the heat so that you do not overcook the rice. Stir in the vegetables and wait 10 to 15 minutes. Do not cook longer than unless you are adding more vegetables. Once the 10 to 15 minutes are done, turn off the burner and get ready to serve the rice.

  3. Step 3

Serve the rice. Serve in bowls with a special garnish like paprika and add to this rice a special type of bread, either a toasted baguette with butter or margarine or garlic bread without cheese with butter or margarine. If you have made enough rice, you can either eat this alone or with roasted chicken or tender portions of beef.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use different vegetables and flavors if necessary.
  • Do not be shy about adding ingredients that challenge the norm in vegetarian cooking.
  • Use frozen fresh vegetables if you do not want to cut fresh raw vegetables.
  • Consider using vegetable oil, corn oil or canola oil instead of butter or margarine if you think it will enhance the taste.
  • Do not overcook the rice.
  • Do not turn up the heat too high or add too much salt. Remember this is a delicious and healthy meal.
