Ready for some gentle dueling excitement? How about a sharp addition to any costume? If you need an easy accessory, or simply have a little boy knight, ninja, pirate or musketeer on your hands looking for some action, there is an easy way to make a handmade, homemade sword using the magic of silver duct tape.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cardboard (a cardboard box is fine)
  • Silver duct tape
  • Scissors
  1. Step 1

Prepare the cardboard for its sword shape by first sketching on it a simple rectangular handle, then adding a long sharp blade (or short for a dagger, curved if you like).

  2. Step 2

Cut this out of the cardboard, then lay it on an extra piece of cardboard and cut out a second, identical sword. You will need two layers of identical sword-shaped cardboard in order to make sure the sword will be thick enough.

  3. Step 3

Holding the two cardboard swords against each other, wrap the handle and the blade with duct tape.

  4. Step 4

Repeat for two to three layers, making sure that there is no danger of flopping between the handle or grip and the blade. Snip off the end of the duct tape neatly and enjoy.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you prefer the handle a different color than the blade, choose red or black or any other duct tape color available for the handle.
