If you are an avid pool swimmer or live in an area where your home water supply is heavily chlorinated, your hair may be dull-looking, tacky-feeling, and easily snarled. If you have “pool hair,” or even if you are just in the habit of using styling products daily, try conditioning your hair with baking soda. Inexpensive, gentle and environmentally-friendly, baking soda works wonders to remove buildup from your hair and leave it soft and silky. You can even use this method while you shower; just be sure to measure out your baking soda in advance and place it somewhere it will stay dry until you need it. Read on to learn how to condition your hair with baking soda.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Favorite shampoo
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  1. Step 1

Wet hair thoroughly, making sure scalp and roots are wet.

  2. Step 2

Squeeze a small dollop of your favorite shampoo into your palm. Use whatever amount you normally would to wash your hair.

  3. Step 3

Add 1 tsp. baking soda to the shampoo in your palm. Stir with a finger to mix in baking soda, then rub palms together to create lather.

  4. Step 4

Shampoo hair, working lather through hair from roots to ends. Rinse well. Towel-dry hair and comb gently with a wide-toothed comb. Style as you normally do.
