Things You'll Need:
- Toothbrush
- Dental floss
- Mouthwash
- Dentist visits

Step 1
You can avoid a root canal by seeing you dentist regularly at least every 6 months and brushing at least twice a day and flossing daily. When you experience any pain in your mouth such as a toothache you should see your dentist as soon as possible.
Letting any tooth pain go on without being taken care can result in needing to have a root canal. Of course not all signs of toothaches mean you have to get a root canal, but it is better to go to your dentist as soon as you can to have it checked out. -
Step 2
There are alternatives to having a root canal, like pulling your tooth out and then you may need to replace it with a bridge or partial plate. Also know that many people say that having a root canal is very painful while some say it is not bad at all. It all depends on the person and the tooth that is infected.
-
Step 3
Do not avoid going to your dentist because of the pain. If you are experiencing pain now it will not likely go away on its own. if it does be sure that it will most likely come back. So going to your dentist and getting it take care of is definitely your best option. Sure it may hurt a little at the dentist and after, but it is well worth it!

Step 4
It is very important to visit your dentist at the first sign of a tooth infection! Taking the adequate care of your teeth is essential in saving them!
