How to avoid a root canal
A root canal is a procedure the dentist use on a decomposing tooth or an infected one that they can not save with just a filling. They have to get to the root of the tooth to save your natural tooth. During a root canal the nerve and pulp are removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed.

Letting any tooth pain go on without being taken care can result in needing to have a root canal. Of course not all signs of toothaches mean you have to get a root canal, but it is better to go to your dentist as soon as you can to have it checked out.
