Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Step1
First and foremost make sure that the power is OFF!
Remove the old fixture (if any) and you will see the electrical box, then disconnect the wires.
Step2
Install the new electrical box your new chandelier came with, you may want to draw a circle on to the ceiling where you are placing your new box, If their wasn't one already installed previously use a dry wall saw to saw the circle area out.
Attach the box securely using a special expandable bracket.
Step3
Place the bracket up through the hole and then position it so it is perpendicular to the joists on either side, and then rotate the expansion bar.
Place the small bracket up through the hole and have it positioned above the bar. With two bolts attached.
Step4
Place the electrical box up through the hole into the ceiling and tighten the bolts as well as you can to make sure the electrical box securely is in place.
Then you are going to wire the connections as it is pretty simple. Your instructions the light came with should show you a diagram to clearly look at.
Step5
Next patch up the hole that you cut out with wood the same size as the hole is. Place it up inside the whole and glue it in place. Wait for the glue to dry and then paint the ceiling with joint compound if necessary to cover any mess that may be there. For a smaller patch use Spackle.
Step6
Take a step back and admire your new chandelier and feel proud that you did it. If any of the steps are a bit confusing then follow the directions your chandelier came with. It should show you pictures to help you out more!
