Parking in Hoboken, New Jersey can be a nightmare. Even those of us that do have a parking permit can have trouble finding a spot. Here is how you can park in Hoboken without a permit.
In Hoboken, the two sides of the street are marked by two different signs. One sign is marked as “Residential Parking” while the other is marked as “Permit Parking.” You’ll want to park on the side of the street that is marked “Permit Parking.” You’ll see on that sign that it will state on the sign that you can park there without a permit for four hours.
Step2
Stay in that parking space for only three hours. If the Hoboken parking authority does see your car in the same spot after several hours you will get a ticket regardless of how long you’ve actually been there.
Step3
After the three hours, move your car to another spot. Be sure to once again park on the “Permit Parking” side of the street.
Step4
Do this from the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Step5
Know that after 9:00 p.m., tickets are only given to those cars that are in the crosswalk or in the yellow-marked portions of the curb. Officers rarely (if ever) actually get out of their vehicles at night unless they are giving a ticket. If you park in the middle of the street on the “Permit Parking” side, you’ll be fine until the morning.
Step6
To be safe, move your car again around 8:00 a.m. the next morning.
